Terry O'Reilly

Born in England in 1945 and educated in that country, Terry O'Reilly graduated from Loyola University of Los Angeles, '66, Honors Program. He received his law degree from Boalt Hall, University of California at Berkeley, in 1969, where he was Moot Court Champion.

After admission to the California Bar in 1970, he practiced for 17 years with the late Bruce Walkup, then one of the nation's leading trial lawyers. He started his own firm in 1987. Mr. O'Reilly has successfully tried numerous multi-million dollar cases that have generated substantial media attention, including Fife/Cook v. Bell Helicopter, Hall v. RGW Construction, and Enrile v. Sheng Hsiang Jen Foods Co., Inc. The $32 million settlement he obtained in Paboojian v. Teledyne Continental Motors made national news and remains the largest single settlement of its type ever.

In 1999, Mr. O'Reilly was elected to the Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group whose membership is limited to the 100 best trial lawyers in the country. He is board certified as a trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, the only certifying authority in California, and by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He is on the Board of the Consumer Attorneys of California and of San Mateo County. Mr. O'Reilly has lectured extensively for lawyers throughout the United States, and is a published author on trial topics.

In 2003, the Consumer Attorneys of California recognized Terry O'Reilly as the Trial Lawyer of the Year. Chosen from amongst a finalist pool of fifteen of California's finest plaintiff's lawyers, Terry was recognized for his work promoting the safety of children by removing a dangerous candy from the marketplace nationwide.

Mr. O'Reilly was named one of the Top 100 Northern California Super Lawyers for 2006. He was also nominated a member of the Lawdragon 500. Mr. O'Reilly serves as a Trustee of the United States Rugby Football Foundation, following his playing days with the University of California and the Old Blues Rugby Club. John Kristensen

John (“Johnny”) Kristensen was born in Massachusetts and raised in North Andover. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon in 1998. During his undergraduate days, John worked for numerous Democratic political campaigns, organizations and the Oregon Legislature. Upon graduation, John moved to Los Angeles to work for the California Democratic Party in the 1998 election.

In 1999, John received a scholarship to attend Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, an unknown hot spot for Massachusetts-bred West Coast Democrats and incubator of future plaintiffs product liability attorneys. After graduating from Washington & Lee in 2002, John returned to Los Angeles and passed the California Bar.

John began his law career as a defense attorney, representing landlords, security companies for concerts, and first and third party automobile litigation. He then switched to a law firm who represented both defendants and plaintiffs, including wrongful death, automobile products liability, business disputes, employment law, civil rights and catastrophic injury cases from investigation through trial. Some of John’s published Orders and appellate cases are below:

• Estate of Bui v. City of Westminster Police Dept., 224 F.R.D. 591, (C.D.Cal. 2007) – Compelling internal affairs statements by police officers in a civil rights lawsuit.

• Cummings v. Granite Construction Co. 2007 WL 1748111 – Summary Judgment upheld by Court of Appeals in design defect case.

• Lopez v. De Preist 2007 WL 901734 - Trial Court’s denial of request for relief from default judgment overruled.

• Fredericks v. Maya Steel Fabrications, Inc. 2006 WL 416215 - Summary Judgment in a wrongful termination lawsuit upheld.

John moved to the Bay Area in the spring of 2008 to join The O'Reilly Law Firm and work exclusively on the side of plaintiffs. He represents plaintiffs in catastrophic cases with an emphasis on aviation and automobile products liability lawsuit. Shortly after joining The O'Reilly Law Firm, John became the first attorney in the country to defeat a Motion for Summary by Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company where Enterprise claimed they were not liable in a products liability lawsuits.

Mr. Kristensen spends his time outside of work following the Red Sox, the Oregon Ducks and exploring the Bay Area.
